Boston-based nonprofit CareQuest Institute for Oral Health partnered with the Journal of Public Health Dentistry for a special issue that is centered around anti-racism in dental public health.

Bedford, Mass.-based CareQuest Institute for Oral Health released the results from their second annual State of Oral Health Equity survey last week.  The results revealed that 77 million adults in the U.S. do not have dental insurance. It also reported oral health disparities for many populations such as people of color, low-income or uninsured people and veterans. Read the full article

The American Institute of Dental Public Health and CareQuest Institute for Oral Health praised the recent efforts of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt, to expand oral healthcare for veterans. The amendments filed by Mr. Sanders June 8 aims to expand access to dental and oral care to veterans under the Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act.

Mental health conditions such as depression are linked to poor oral hygiene and other dental problems, strengthening the link between mental and oral health, according to a report released in May from the U.S. nonprofit CareQuest Institute for Oral Health. The report, which is based on research from CareQuest Institute's 2022 State of Oral Health Equity in America survey, as well as other literature, highlights multiple ways mental health affects oral health.
